Our Story & Mission

Founded in 2021 to connect local woodworkers with the materials,
tools, and community they need to support their craft.

  • In the spring of 2021, founder Tyler Ross set out to build a simple business that would bring woodworkers, their customers, and the materials together.

Lumber and Craft was established in May of 2021 by owner and founder, Tyler Ross, to solve a simple but persistent problem in the Appalachian Highlands area: a lack of resources for woodworkers of all skill levels. Since then, L&C has become the Tri-Cities’ destination for quality, kiln-dried hardwood, comprehensive milling services, and friendly expertise. Beginning in 2023, L&C will open our workshop to the public with membership opportunities and woodworking classes to better serve our community with more of the resources they need to support their craft.

  • Connect local woodworkers with the materials, tools, and community they need to support their craft.

Lumber and Craft aims to be the place for every woodcrafting project—from cutting boards to kitchen tables. We offer a wide range of products and services to support your woodworking needs. In addition to domestic and exotic hardwoods, we have live-edge slabs, turning blanks, burl caps, cutting board sticks, epoxy kits and a growing assortment of quality used tools. Our services include surfacing, straight-line ripping, flat-edge blade sharpening and custom work on our CNC router table.

We are currently developing plans for a membership-based community workshop where woodworkers of all skill-levels can hone their craft. We will host regular workshops and classes on various topics and projects in woodworking.
